Senior: The Senior team rounded off their Munster Senior Cup campaign with a bonus point victory at home to Highfield in a really entertaining game last Saturday. While disappointed not to be advancing to the semi finals having reached the final last season, Nenagh can be well satisfied with two wins from three and two bonus points gathered in a round robin group with all Division 1 opposition.Cork Constitution made it a clean sweep by defeating Shannon on Saturday so it is they who advance. Nenagh’s efforts do however qualify them for the semi final of the Limerick Charity Cup which has been linked in to the Senior Cup format this year and intriguingly that pits Nenagh against Young Munster this coming Saturday. It was the Cookies who denied Nenagh a historic Senior Cup win last year with a last minute kick in Thomond Park so there will be no lack of bite in this fixture as both sides aim to get a spot in a cup final but also go in to All Ireland League action on the back of a winning performance. This game is scheduled for 2.30 pm this Saturday with venue details to be confirmed. Please follow our social media pages throughout the week for updates.
Seconds: The 2nd XV are also in semi final action this weekend with an away tie vs Clonmel RFC on Sunday and a place in the Garryowen Cup Final on offer for the winners. Kickoff is at 2.30pm in Clonmel on Sunday and all support would be greatly appreciated. Best of luck to all involved.
Under 20: The Under 20s continued their North Munster League campaign in brutal conditions last Wednesday night in Dooradoyle. In a really competitive outing it was the home side who just shaded it in the end on a 22-12 scoreline. Credit to the players and their coaches though for an excellent performance, showing big progress from their opening tie a week earlier. The team continue their preparations for the upcoming Donal Walsh tournament and many of the squad will see game time on Sunday with the 2nd XV in Clonmel. There is a huge amount of talent in this squad and massive potential if they keep on their current trajectory.
U16: After the u16s first game last weekend was conceded by Kilrush, the team got off to a good start in Bruff this weekend. The boys started strongly ,defending well and didn't let Bruff out of their half in the first 30 minutes. The forwards tackled and carried well ,making good ground and hitting hard. Ronan Maher worked hard and scored Nenaghs first try. Dean Carey kicked the conversion well as he did for the rest of the day, converting all 5 tries that came during the game plus 1 penalty.
Nenagh were always looking the stronger and Matt Leyden got in for 2 super tries with Ben Deegan and Darragh Murphy also adding tries to the tally.
After half time the ref called for uncontested scrums. The boys took a while to adjust as this was a big part of this powerful Nenagh pack's game. But after a brief comeback by Bruff,the lads off the bench and everyone finished out things well.
Well done lads. It was great to see Oisin Ryan back on the field today,after being out for all of last season due to a serious injury. Welcome back Oisin and well done everyone on a great start to the season.
U15: A day of dramatic ups and downs marked today's intense U-15 Rugby match between Nenagh Ormond and Newcastle West held at the 3G All Weather pitch in University Limerick. The weather held up nicely with a light breeze under cloudy skies setting the stage for a day of great rugby.
Dara Gaynor led our team as the captain once more, with the match presided over by our own Barry Meehan as the referee. It was a day of effort and resilience as our young warriors played three periods of 20 mins each, with a strong emphasis on giving their all on the field.
The match kicked off at 11:35 and within a minute Nenagh's Hugo Healy showcased a remarkable effort by scoring a try and opening the scoreboard at 5-0. However, Newcastle West came back strongly, taking the lead with a series of successful tries and conversions, ending the first period at 14-5.
Resuming, Newcastle West maintained their offensive, further increasing their lead. A moment of concern came when our captain, Dara Gaynor, had to leave the field due to an injury. Yet, the team's spirit wasn't dampened; Oscar Griffin charged through, dodging five speedy opponents to secure a try, with Hugo Healy successfully converting it, wrapping up this period at 34-12.
Despite Danny Powell having to leave due to injury, the team rallied and showcased great teamwork in the final period. Oscar Griffin shone again, securing another try for Nenagh, followed by another brilliant score by Hugo Healy after a lineout. The final whistle blew marking the end of a hard-fought game with a score of 39-22 in favor of Newcastle West.
Though it wasn't a victory, the match was rich with learnings and showcased the undeniable effort and spirit of our young team. A hearty congratulations to all the players for their resilience and hard-fought game. Well done, lads! There is much to take away and build upon from this game.

U13: The under 13’s made the short trip to UL Bohs on Sunday for their first proper 15 a side game in the North Munster Development League. Against a very strong, well organised and well coached UL Bohs team and with only a few training sessions under the belt they earned a 12-12 draw. There were some excellent free flowing passages from Nenagh with unbelievable offloading. The lads probably feel that they left this game behind them as they were the better team throughout but some missed scoring opportunities unfortunately caught up with them at the end when UL Bohs scored a try late on. Even then, Nenagh finished the game camped on the UL Bohs line but couldn’t find their way through some resolute defence from the Limerick men. A great game and a good start with great learnings to take away. Training is on Wednesday at 7 in Tyone. New players are always welcome to join.
