(Our U12 Girls team after a really impressive showing at their blitz in Fethard at the weekend)

Adult Rugby: The Senior side had a chance for some rest and recovery this week with a free weekend in the Energia AIL schedule. However there was still quite a bit of action over the week for the extended squad. On Wednesday night the U20.5 side got their second win of their Donal Walsh Trophy campaign by defeating Bruff RFC 19-3 at the Co. Limerick venue. The scores on the night came from Tristan Madden and Ryan Thompson (1 Try each), a penalty try and 2 conversions from Evan Fitzpatrick.

A number of the same players lined out again alongside some of their senior counterparts in a home tie with Clonmel RFC in the Munster Senior Seconds League. A strong performance on the day saw Nenagh win out on a 33-7 scoreline. There were plenty of strong performances meaning the senior selectors will have plenty to consider ahead of selecting the team for the next Energia AIL game in Gibson Park, Belfast versus Malone RFC on Saturday next. Kick off in Belfast is at 2.30pm and all support would be greatly appreciated.

U15: Nenagh made the short trip to Clarisford to take on Ballina Killaloe in the last round of the U15 Pan Munster Conference. A powerful first half performance underlined the improvements made by the team in the past few months and paved the way for Nenagh to make it four wins out of five and secure second place in the table, ultimately defeating Ballina Killaloe by 38-22. Nenagh were in control from the start and played at a pace that Ballina could not live with. They were in front after just three minutes when Hugo Healy rounded off a fine team move to score in the corner and put Nenagh into a 5-0 lead. Nenagh continued to dominate territory and possession and within 5 minutes they went further ahead. Great hands by the backs created space out wide for Liam Flynn who raced clear but was held just short of the line. The ball was recycled and Oisin Gleeson evaded a few tackles and scored under the posts. Charlie Talbot converted to put Nenagh 12-0 ahead. After just 18 minutes they scored their third try when after some great interplay between backs and forwards Seanie Quinlan received the ball on the left wing. He put in a deft chip over the Ballina defense, collected the loose ball and scored in the corner leaving the score 17-0 in favor of Nenagh. Just as Nenagh were threatening to add another try, Ballina reduced the deficit when their centre scored a fine breakaway try by intercepting to run the length of the field and score. Nenagh regained possession from the restart and after a few phases Oisin Gleeson scored Nenagh's 4th try to leave the half time score 24-7 to Nenagh. Nenagh continued to dominate in the second half and scored their fifth try from close range to go 31-7 ahead. Ballina had to respond and to their credit they did. Their forwards managed to secure some possession and they went through a number of phases before quickly moving the ball out the backs where a few missed tackles by Nenagh allowed Ballina in for two tries to reduce the deficit to 31-17 with 15 minutes to go. However, Nenagh always looked threatening and following some great carries by Ronan Devlin and Jack Tierney they scored their 6th try with Charlie Talbot converting to put Nenagh 38-17 ahead. Ballina kept playing and were camped on the Nenagh try line for the last 10 minutes. Despite the scoreline Nenagh refused to concede and showed great resilience to repeatedly turn the ball over and clear their lines. However, from the last play of the match Ballina scored their fourth try to leave the full-time score 38-22 in Nenagh's favour.

Nenagh are looking forward to the next phase of the Pan Munster competition with the draw being made next weekend. Training continues on Wednesday at 7.15 in Lisatunny. New players born in 2009 are always welcome.

U12 Girls: Our U12 girls travelled to Fethard today to play in a blitz there. They played 4 games and excelled in every one of them. They are getting better with every training session and blitz. Training takes place every Wednesday evening at 7pm in the rugby club and new players are always welcome. In more good news for the older girls, from next year Nenagh Ormond will have a girls U14 team and there is a plan in place for an U16 & U18 team as they progress along, so the future is bright for our trail blazing U12s. Well done to all involved.
