Nenagh Ormond under 16s played Cashel in the fourth round of the phase 1 pan Munster on Sunday last. While conditions were good the ball was greasy and led to many handling errors during the game. Nenagh kicked off and were forced to play the game in the first 10 mins without the ball as Cashel recycled and kept possession well. When Nenagh did get possession, they struggled to keep it under pressure in contact. However, as the half wore on Nenagh started to gain some dominance and putting some good phases of play together. Harry Walsh finally broke the deadlock lock with a try after some good handling by forwards and backs. Jack Gleeson scored soon after with a fine individual effort. He got the ball close to the touch line and cutting back in found a gap and dotted down to score. Cashel came back at Nenagh with some good plays but just couldn’t break down the Nenagh defence. On a turnover, Luke Slattery carried well into the opposition 22 and Cody O’Connor cut a brilliant line to take an offload and leave the defenders standing to score under the posts. Nenagh added a further two tries just before half time. Robbie O’Brien made one of his powerful carries to beat numerous defenders to score and Luke Slattery with a carbon copy.

Nenagh emptied the bench at halftime but kept in control of the game even though Cashel started the second half with real purpose. When they ventured into the Nenagh half and tried to move the ball wide, Tadhg Teefey intercepted and ran the length of the field. The Nenagh defence was excellent and some brilliant line out defence by Tadhg really stopped Cashel getting any flow in their game. Nenagh played well overall.  The attack started out a little off the pace but as the game went on the boys really clicked. Defence was very good throughout with each player making valuable contributions. Training continues Wednesday and Friday with a home match against Kilfeacle next Sunday.
