Nenagh Ormond played Young Munster RFC in their final group game of the North Munster league on Sunday last. Nenagh travelled to the game minus a few players due to sickness and injury. Despite that they started the game well and Marcus Finn playing at full back scored a try in the corner. Young Munster fought back immediately and scored next with a well struck penalty bringing the score to 5-3. Nenagh, after putting a few phases together, scored again through Aidan Steed who powered over from close range.  Shortly after Young Munster were unlucky not to score another penalty which came back off the post. From that missed penalty Nenagh kept the momentum going and Cian Murphy ran a great line off a backline move to score under the posts just before half time. With no further score the teams turned at the interval with Nenagh leading 17-3.

Nenagh kicked off the second half and really upped the ante. However, at times they struggled to get some flow due to the stop start nature of the game. The Young Munster defence held firm, and it took 3 brilliant efforts from Aron Griffin and Tadhg Teefey to get the next score. Cody O Connor followed up with a late try in the corner after being narrowly denied in the first half. Nenagh now have a North Munster league semi-final to look forward to just before Christmas. The win also ensured Nenagh’s qualification for the top tier of the Munster wide U16 cup competition where Nenagh will play UL Bohemians this Sunday in Annacotty at 12 noon. Training continues Wednesdays and Fridays.
