Nenagh Ormond Under 13s closed out their season with the White team losing narrowly to Garryowen on Tuesday evening in the semi-final of the North Munster Cup.  The Nenagh lads showed great determination and skill to stay within one score right up to the last few minutes. The boys had got this far following an impressive win against Thomond/St Marys the previous Friday. Due to the nature of having to close out the cup competition before the end of April they found themselves having to go again four days later. They certainly didn’t lack the hunger or belief that they could overturn a strong Garryowen side but just came up short on the day.

This season had 52 registered players at under 13 level so decided to run with two squads for the league and cup competitions. While this meant a lot of additional effort for the coaches to manage, the benefits were extremely rewarding. Both teams were competitive in all their matches, the Red team losing by two points in the League Bowl Final and the White Team third in the League and losing narrowly in the Cup semi-final.

While success on the pitch is important, the primary consideration for this coaching team has been around positive player engagement and ensuring every one of the boys has a chance to reach their potential. Seeing up to 40 kids turning up for an hour and a half to train every Thursday evening has been the most pleasing aspect of the season. Nenagh Ormond would like to thank the boys and their parents for buying into this ethos and showing up in all sorts of weather at training and matches.

Nenagh look forward to welcoming the lads back next season and wish them the best in their other sporting activities during the Summer.
