Last Saturday saw our Senior side hit the ground running for the latest block of Energia AIL fixtures with a comprehensive bonus point win over Old Crescent RFC in Lisatunny. The achievement is all the more noteworthy given that it ended a run of 7 games at AIL level vs Old Crescent in which Nenagh had come away fruitless. Results elsewhere played into Nenagh hands too as UL Bohemians upset all predictions to knock over first placed Queens University and breathe life into their own survival hopes while Cashel and Dolphin played out a draw allowing Nenagh to pull ahead of their Tipp rivals into 4th place. The playoff aspirations of both sides will hinge largely on the result of the Tipp derby in Cashel next Friday week. Before that however is a dangerous trip to the aforementioned Dolphin this Saturday. Their result in Cashel says everything about this team’s capabilities and one would not want to read too much into their position second from bottom in the table. Nenagh themselves carried out several giant killing acts last season from the same position to ultimately survive in the division so eyes will hopefully be open to the potential pitfalls of turning up undercooked in Irish Independent Park. Kick off on Saturday is at 2.30pm and all support as always would be greatly appreciated.

The action for this weekend doesn’t end there as the Senior Seconds side have a tasty home tie in the last 16 of the Junior Cup with Garryowen on Sunday at 2pm. This is the furthest the club has progressed in this competition in quite a while and with this team having produced several big performances to date they will relish the challenge of taking on their illustrious near neighbours. With a place in the quarter finals at stake the prize is a massive incentive to both teams so be sure to get out to Lisatunny Sunday for what should be a cracking tie.
